Our church is led by a group of elders who help bring spiritual leadership and oversee ministry teams. These areas include worship, prayer, spiritual growth, missions, community outreach, and financial stewardship. We take this church leadership model from I Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.
Our deacons lead ministry teams that help minister to the practical needs in the life of our church and community. These areas include fellowship, congregational care, community service & outreach, and caring for our building and facilities. We see this model in Acts 6:1-7 and I Timothy 3:8-13.
The College Corner Presbyterian Church Session has called Rev. John Quigley as a transitional pastor to serve the congregation in preparing the church for a full-time pastor.
Letter of Introduction for John and Susan Quigley
John and Susan formed a blended family nine years ago after John became a widower. Susan has two married daughters and a single son. One daughter lives in Australia, the other daughter and her three grandchildren live in Colorado. Her son lives in Texas. John has one single daughter and two married sons all living in east Tennessee where John and Susan have recently settled. John has four grandchildren and a fifth one due in October. They also have a Shi Tzu named “Harry.”
John and Susan were both raised in active Christian families on the east coast. As a result, they both love church life, Sunday School, hymn-singing, fellowship suppers and Bible Conferences. They enjoy road trips and vacations at the beach. They are both avid readers. Susan prefers biographies while John appreciates fiction and nonfiction, especially American history. They enjoy old-movies, live music and dancing.
John is an effective EPC Pastor with much experience as a Transitional Pastor. His twenty-four-year pastoral career has focused on the pastoral care and pastoral counseling of individuals and families. These skills are also helpful in working with a church’s leadership teams and with congregations going through a challenging transition.
By using a large-group seminar format, John leads interactive seminars designed for improving relationships in general and for improving organizational health and effectiveness. John has experience and a degree in business management enabling him to lead workshops on strategic planning for churches. He has served six EPC churches ranging in size from 50 to 4,500 members.
John and Susan are looking forward to meeting all the members and friends of College Corner Presbyterian Church and learning about their individual church stories and together prayerfully seeking the Lord’s leading for the future of CCPC and the kingdom of God.
We minister to youth cooperatively with local churches. We have church parents who help serve and also a local couple who serve several local churches in a community youth group. We also have a Young Life ministry beginning that will send Miami University Young Life leaders to reach kids at Union County High School.
Susan Rooney serves in our church office and takes care of our church communication, phones, and administrative tasks for ministry.
