Vs 16-17 As a result of the sin of Adam . . . we are all born with a ____ ___________

What Paul is writing about in Galatians 5

To follow we need to hear the beat of Holy Spirit’s drum

1.The primary way Holy Spirit will lead is through the _______ (Psalm 119:105, 2 Timothy 3:15-16)

. . . Ask Holy Spirit to help you understand the Bible before you study it

Four ways Holy Spirit directs us through the Bible:

Four ways Holy Spirit directs us through the Bible:

Through principles we apply

Through commands we follow

Through promises we can claim and live by

Through ___________ we can learn from

2. Holy Spirit may lead us through leadings,

promptings, or ___________ (John 10:27, Job 33:14-16)

How to better sense God’s leadings:

i. Be alone with God (Luke 5:16)(need to slow down life)

ii. Be _______ (Psalm 46:10)

(“Jesus Prayer” Lord Jesus, Son of God, Have mercy on me, a sinner (Mark 10:47, Luke 18:13))

This isn’t transcendental meditation, whose goal is to empty yourself. This is to calm yourself to be more open to realizing God’s presence.

iii. Be Aware: ask God to help you be more aware

of His presence and guidance

The need to test any ‘leadings’ (1 John 4:1)

i. Does it fit with what we know from the Bible.

  God does not ________________ Himself.

ii. Check leading with mature ___________

  (Proverbs 12:16,Proverbs 24:6)

3. God will lead us through circumstances (providence), opening and closing __________ (Colossians 4:3, Acts 16)

Sometimes, you have done these things and

sense no leading from God on what to do in a situation.

In such times, do ____________  you want, as along as it doesn’t contradict the Bible and harms no one.

Psalm 37:4 “Delight yourself in the LORD

and He will give you the desires of your heart.”

(John MacArthur, “Found: God’s Will”)
